African Influences in Fashion

Having chosen African tribes as the culture to base my project on, I thought it would be good to research into their influences in contemporary fashion, hair and make-up.  Some good examples of this are aztec print clothes and make-up designs seen in music videos.  Below are some examples of different influences that I found when researching.

For this fashion show, it is fairly obvious that African style clothing and make-up has influenced the designer.

Tribal make-up was obviously a key influence for the creative directors behind this music video, even though the song is about the extraterrestrial world.  The neat parallel lines and varied sizes of spots/rectangles gives a clear tribal feel to the look.
