Studio: Mohawk Inspired Hair

Equipment needed:
- Combs & hairbrushes
- Hair bands
- Hair grips & pins
- Curling tongs
- Hairspray

How to:
- Take the top, middle section of hair and tie it tightly with a hair band.
- At the point at the back of the top section, use a pintail comb and make a two diagonal sections towards each ear.
- Tie the two sections together tightly and then tie the remaining section of hair in a hair band.
- ALL ponytails mist be in a straight line down the centre of the model's head.
- Section each ponytail into four, as if you were creating a bun.
- Use medium sized curling tongs, and curl each section of each ponytail down towards the head, making sure you direct the angles accordingly.
- Leave the curls to cool before working with them to create the hairstyle, otherwise they will drop and not be as effective.
- Backcomb the underside of each section.  REMEMBER: think about the placement of curls when backcombing.
- Leaving the ends of each section out to manipulate later, create barrel curls and pin into place with each section of hair.
- With the back section of hair in each ponytail, backcomb the hair on the opposite side and bring over the other sections.
- With the ponytail underneath, join the front section with the sections in the ponytail above so that there are no gaps.
- Once all the sections are pinned into place, use a pintail comb to move the sections around to cover any existing gaps.
- Then, with the ends that you left out earlier, you can use your fingers to push the hair back on itself and create textured ends.
- Spray some hairspray on your hands and rub onto the hair to keep it in place.

Evaluation:
I felt that this was an interesting way to create a Mohawk designed hairstyle and I feel that for my first attempt it didn’t go too badly.  To improve I think that I need to focus on joining the gaps in the bun sections and maybe making the ends a bit neater and keeping them closer to the main bit of the Mohawk.  However I quite like the messy look I have achieved.
